Labourer  - Cornwall and Isles of Scilly 

 

We are looking to recruit a labourer to support a number of busy sites across Cornwall.  This is an active role and there will be the necessity to traverse the site across and around excavations and rubble and work during inclement weather should the need arise. There will, at times, be the necessity to access scaffolding by means of a ladder and work on the scaffolding, or from the ladder. 

 

You will have the opportunity to work with trades across all areas of the business, including roofing, flooring, carpentry, masonry, groundworks, decorating and plastering.

 

A Labourer’s typical duties encompass many aspects during the building process, including: 

  1. Loading and unloading of material either into store or across the site. This will involve manual handling of heavy and/or awkward objects. 
  2. Adapting to a variety of tasks which could include builders cleans, basic groundworks, mixing mortar, plaster and screed, site set up and other general duties as required in order to assist any of the various trades on site. 
  3. Comply with responsibilities as laid down in the Companies  Health, Safety & Environment Policy and as explained in Site Health and Safety rules/procedures. 
  4. At all times comply with company policies, procedures and instructions. 
  5. Contribute to improving the business, protecting and enhancing the reputation of the company, by putting forward new ideas and, when requested to do so, implementing change. 
  6. Collecting materials and plant from suppliers and removal of waste from site for disposal. 

Must have the following: 

  • Full clean driving licence and be driving for a minimum of 2 years - will regularly need to drive a van/pick up 
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work unsupervised at a good pace 
  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • A common sense approach 

The following is desirable: 

  • PASMA or Mobile Tower Erecting certificate 
  • CSCS card 
  • Asbestos Awareness Certificate 

From time to time you may be required to work in areas which may involve short periods staying away from home. 

 

In return we offer Workwear, PPE and contributory Company Pension. We also actively encourage and provide excellent opportunities for progression and personal development. We don't expect you to have a full range of tools, but own basic hand tools  would be advantageous. 

 

Hourly rate between £8.50 - £10.50 per hour  dependant on experience and qualifications.  Any offer will be subject to having a satisfactory DBS check and references and clearing the Police vetting. 

 

Full time minimum 40.5 hours per week Monday to Friday.

Multi-Skilled Operative - Cornwall and Isles of Scilly

 

 

Due to securing fantastic new contracts, we're looking for a full time Multi-Skilled Operative to join our team!


Experienced in a range of trades, you will be required to undertake a variety of repair, maintenance and improvement works in properties and on sites in the private and public sectors across Cornwall. We work predominantly in Schools, Hospitals, Social Housing and on the Police Estate in an environment where no two days are ever the same.

Are you keen to progress, motivated and enthusiastic, with a positive 'can do' attitude? Do you enjoy the variety of working in a planned and reactive maintenance environment and do you strive to deliver a first class professional service every time? If so, then you could be exactly what you're looking for.


Essential:

  • Competent in a range of trades to include msonry, plastering, decorating, tiling and carpentry
  • Experienced working in a busy multi-site environment
  • Proactive ability to solve problems
  • Minimum NVQ2 in a related discipline
  • Full UK Driving Licence


Desirable:

  • Competent in domestic plumbing
  • Experience working in the Commercial and/or Public Sectors
  • Asbestos Awareness Certificate
  • CSCS card

In return we offer a fully expensed company van with fuel card, full PPE, company workwear and contributory Company Pension. We also actively encourage and provide excellent opportunities for progression and personal development. We don't expect you to have a full range of tools, but own basic hand and power tools would be advantageous.

 

Basic working is 40.5 hours per week Monday – Friday with attractive overtime rates. We do not currently offer an out of hours call out service, although this is something we are planning to offer for which a premium will be payable.

 

From time to time you may be required to work in areas which may involve short periods staying away from home.

 

Hourly rate between £11.50 - £13.25 per hour dependant on experience and qualifications.

Any offer will be subject to having a satisfactory DBS check and references and clearing the Police vetting.

Experienced in a range of Carpentry skills & disciplines, you will be required to undertake a variety of repair, maintenance, new and improvement works in properties and on sites in the private and public sectors across Cornwall. We work predominantly in Schools, Hospitals, Social Housing and on the Police Estate in an environment where no two days are ever the same.

Do you enjoy the variety of working in a planned and reactive maintenance environment, but also on site projects? Do you strive to deliver a first class professional service every time?   • Competent in a range of Carpentry skills & disciplines
  • Experienced working in a busy multi-site  maintenance environment
  • Experienced working on busy construction sites
  • A good knowledge and appreciation of Construction Health and Safety
  • Proactive ability to solve problems
  • Fantastic Customer Service skills
  • Minimum NVQ2 in Wood Occupations or equivalent
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:

  • Good working knowledge in a range of other trades to include masonry, plastering, groundworks and carpentry
  • Experience working in the Commercial and/or Public Sectors, particularly in Social Housing
  • Experience managing small teams and/or sites
  • SSSTS or SMSTS
  • NVQ3 in Wood Occupations or equivalent
  • Asbestos Awareness Certificate
  • CSCS card
