In March 2020, our client urgently sought our expertise to carry out essential COVID related modification works at Bodmin Hospital to facilitate the accommodation of elderly patients with mental health challenges in the ward spaces. The project’s primary focus was to enhance the safety and functionality of the hospital environment to meet the specific needs of the vulnerable patient group.
The scope of work included the replacement of the existing carpet with Altro slip-resistant vinyl flooring in the communal corridors, toilets and day rooms. Additionally, a new sluice room was installed to improve hygiene standards and operational efficiency within the facility. These modifications were essential to create a conducive and safe environment for the patients and healthcare staff.
Executing the project during the challenging COVID lockdown period required meticulous planning and adherence to strict safety protocols outlined by the Construction Leadership Council Guidance. Our team worked closely with Altro to expedite the specification and delivery of the flooring materials to the site promptly. This proactive approach enabled the swift commencement of strip-out works upon instruction, minimizing downtime and ensuring the project progressed efficiently.
By prioritising safety, efficiency, and collaboration with key stakeholders, we successfully transformed Bodmin Hospital’s spaces to meet the specific requirements of elderly patients with mental health challenges. The project exemplified our capacity to deliver timely and high-quality solutions, even in challenging circumstances, to enhance healthcare environments and support patient care.
